Modul Advanced Real Estate Management

Fall Term
The module "Advanced Real Estate Management" imparts to the students profound knowledge on international real estate portfolio management, law and taxation. The module consists of two courses, each accounting for 3 ECTS: "Legal & Taxational Aspects" and "Real Estate Portfolio Management". Students will get deeper insights into the influences and reciprocal relationships between landlord and tenant law, the legal and taxational aspects of real estate acquisitions, dispositions and ownership, quantitative and strategic real estate portfolio management, performance measurement, facility management and corporate real estate management. The thorough focus on the various management aspects of real estate is reflected in presentations of well-regarded practitioners and case studies. The courses enable the students to work in national and international real estate companies.
1st Course: Legal & Taxational Aspects
Course No. L-REM4-014
The course "Legal and Taxational Aspects" aims to provide students with a deeper understanding of the legal and taxational aspects that have to be considered in connection with the acquisition, disposition and ownership of real estate. In particular, the course will introduce the students to the fundamentals of landlord and tenant law, the legal aspects that have to be considered at the conclusion of real estate sales contracts, the taxation of real estate acquisitions (land purchase tax, capital transfer tax), real estate ownership (land tax, sales tax, income tax) and real estate dispositions (sales tax, income tax).
2nd Course: Real Estate Portfolio Management
Course No. L-REM 4-015
The course "Real Estate Portfolio Management" aims to introduce the students to quantitative and strategic real estate portfolio management, performance measurement, facility management and corporate real estate management. In particular, the course aims to provide students with a deeper understanding of the different methods of portfolio planning, the calculation of portfolio risk and return, the construction of efficient portfolios, portfolio analysis, strategy development and implementation, performance analysis and benchmarking, attribution analysis and global investment performance standards.
